I was born in 1967 near Austin Texas, and grew up uneventfully in Fort Wayne, Indiana - birthplace of Shelly Long, and fictional home of the M*A*S*H character Frank Burns, among others. When you grow up in a place like Fort Wayne, any claim to fame is important...
After completing my BA at Indiana University - during the course of which I also studied at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Haifa University - I emigrated to Israel only months before the first Gulf War, in August 1990. In between planeloads of immigrants from the former Soviet Union, I was given an Israeli ID card and a gas mask, in that order. I'm still not sure which one these ultimately produced greater headaches.
In 1996, I was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces, where I evenutally served for 12 years in active Reserves duty as a combat medic, most of it on the Syrian border in the Golan Heights - which is consequently now one of my favorite places in the world.
In 1998, I was married to the wonderful woman who changed my life for the better in so many ways, and in 2001, only a month after the 9/11 attacks, my son was born, followed by my twin daughters in 2004. In 2017, the love of my life finally succumbed to cancer - after giving it one hell of a fight.
Since 2002, I’ve worked as an independent marketing writer, copywriter and consultant. But mostly, I'm still a full-time Dad, cook, cleaner, woodcutter, shopper, and chauffeur. And in my spare time, I write books.
